Great piece. I worked in the B2B electronic division of Knight-Ridder in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I forget the exact numbers, but I think it was something over a billion in revenue. From digital. Pre-Netscape IPO. Unlike Thomson (now Thomson Reuters), the Ridder family didn’t see a future in digital and sold it off to double down on newspapers.
